ENTERING CHINA: MEANS, METHODS AND DOING IT CORRECTLY

Economic and business indicators continue to point to greatly increased interest by U.S. companies, particularly mid-sized enterprises, in doing business in and with the People's Republic of China. Entering the China market can prove especially challenging for middle-market companies, both in terms of developing a sound entry strategy and assembling the means and team necessary to reasonably assure a successful execution.

The focus of O'Connell & Co's China practice has been to provide legal support to small-and-medium-sized enterprises as they enter or expand their operations in China, assisting in negotiations as well as structuring and obtaining approvals for the various joint venture or wholly foreign-owned options open to US investors, while Abraxas Corporation is skilled in developing on-the-ground market, political risk and business risk due diligence and intelligence for the in-bound China investor. Panelists include:

Timothy J. Long, Managing Director - Asia, Abraxas Corporation, Arlington, Va.

Kevin M. O'Connell, Senior Partner, O'Connell & Co, Washington and Hong Kong
