GENERAL IP ENFORCEMENT IN CHINA

The Maryland-China Business Council is pleased to co-sponsor with the US Patent and Trademark Office (PTO) a FREE seminar on General IP Enforcement in China. The seminar, organized by PTO's Office of Enforcement will be held on Wednesday April 13, 9:15 am to 2:30 pm, at the Marriott Inner Harbor Hotel in Baltimore, MD.

The half-day seminar will include a presentation by the IP attaché assigned to the US Embassy in Beijing who will provide a comprehensive introduction to the Chinese system for Intellectual Property enforcement and a summary of the Chinese Supreme People's Court's recently issued Judicial Interpretation on Handling Criminal Cases of Infringing Intellectual Property. Rouse & Co. International's US Representative will offer a presentation on conducting IP investigations in China and a brief introduction into the Chinese IP registration and recordal system. Black & Decker' General Counsel will speak about his company's experiences in protecting and enforcing their IP rights in China. An Attorney-Advisor with the PTO will give a presentation on the STOP Initiative and how it relates to China.

Following the presentations, the PTO will hold a lunch at which attendees can interact and discuss the issues presented earlier in the day with the speakers and other industry and government personnel.
