Good afternoon. The Department of Community, Trade and Economic Development (CTED) has asked Executive Search Services (ESS), a unit within the Washington State Department of Personnel, to assist them with their search for a Managing Director for the International Trade Programs.

Reporting to the International Trade Assistant Director, the Managing Director is responsible for the development and growth of Washington's trade development and export promotion programs with an emphasis on targeted industries markets. Current targeted industries include: aerospace, marine, industrial machinery, electronics, medical devices, bioscience, wood products, building materials and information and communication technologies. Current targeted markets include: China, Germany, Japan, South Korea, Mexico and Taiwan.

The Managing Director provides recommendations regarding the development of programming, policies and legislation affecting Washington's international trade and export promotion. The incumbent sets priorities, develops and manages the unit budget, resolves personnel issues, serves as a member of the division leadership team and represents the department on external boards and commissions as assigned by the Assistant Director.
