Chinese Economic and Trade Delegation to Visit Maryland on January 4
Dear Maryland Colleagues:
The Office of the Secretary of State has just been advised that a large delegation from our Sister State in Anhui Province, China will be in Maryland on the afternoon of Wednesday, January 4. Since the delegation is comprised of economic and development representatives from the Provincial government as well as various counties and cities within the Province, we have made arrangements for a meeting to be held at the offices of the Tech Council of Maryland (9700 Great Seneca Highway in Rockville; driving directions can be found on the Councils website, www.mdhitech.org). We invite you, others in your organization, or interested local business people to attend and learn some of the opportunities within our Chinese Sister State. The proposed schedule for the afternoon follows:
2:00 p.m. Arrive
2:15-3:15 p.m. Welcome and Introductions
Presentations by Delegation Members
3:15-4:45 p.m. Break-out Discussions
5:00 p.m. Depart
Despite the short notice,
we hope you will be able to participate. If not, we would appreciate your
passing this invitation along to others who might like to make some connections
in China. This year marked the 25th Anniversary of Marylands partnership
with Anhui, and the States April mission to China, which included
two stops in the Province, has resulted in an increasing interest from Anhui
in relationships with Maryland companies and organizations. The attachment
provides the purpose for the delegations trip and a list of the delegation
members. Additional information can be obtained by contacting Susan Frick
Payne, Director of International Affairs in the Office of the Secretary
of State, at 410-260-3858 or spayne@sos.state.md.us.
If you or others plan to attend, please notify Mendy Nitsch, Assistant Coordinator
in the International Division, at 410-260-3865 or mnitsch@sos.state.md.us
at your earliest convenience.
