Office of the Secretary of State of Maryland

Among one of the very first relationships between the U.S. and China following the opening of China in 1979, the State of Maryland - Anhui Province Sister State relationship was established in 1980. Since the improvement of U.S.-China relations in 1991, this has been a very active partnership.

Maryland Department of Environment is an integral part of this relationship. Currently MDE is working with the Anhui Provincial Environmental Protection Bureau and the Maryland China Center to provide real-life training for Anhui's environmental professionals on environmental management and regulation, and to enhance the economic relationships for Maryland businesses in the environmental field. The first of three annual training sessions will begin on October 26, 2006. A thirteen-member delegation from Anhui will receive training by MDE personnel. The topics will be environmental policy and management, strategic assessment and planning, and emergency management and will include field visits and tours.

With Maryland's State House as the backdrop, the Maryland-China Business Council invites you to take part in this unique partnership by attending the welcoming reception for these provincial and municipal environmental officials from Anhui and taking advantage of the chance to discuss opportunities for your business.
