"Developing Intellectual Property and Regulatory Strategies for Healthcare and Related Business in China"

The Chinese healthcare field is undergoing an unprecedented change with the rising demand for high-quality medical services from the growing middle-class and health-conscious population of China. Of all the challenges facing the Chinese government, few are as important or daunting as improving the national healthcare system. Not only do the health and welfare of the nation's 1.3 billion people depend on it, but in very a real and direct way, the rest of the world's health depends on it too. There is a broad consensus that private investment - both domestic and foreign - can play a key role in solving the problems of inefficiency, high costs, corruption, lack of a complete and fully implemented quality standards, and poor service in Chinese healthcare system.

Chindex has 25 years experience in providing cutting-edge Western medical technology and equipment to the Chinese healthcare system. Its sales, marketing, clinical, and technical support personnel service Chindex-supplied medical instruments to over 2,000 hospitals in China. Chindex also has established the model for private healthcare services with its Beijing United Family Hospital and Shanghai United Family Hospital. Judy Zakreski from Chindex will provide the company's perspectives on the opportunities and challenges of China's healthcare market. She will also address the limitations that the Chinese government has put on foreign investment in healthcare services, shedding light on how to optimize business opportunities in helping China to solve the problems inherent in its healthcare system.

Moreover, the protection of intellectual property (IP) rights has become crucial to the success of many U.S. investors and enterprises who wish to profit from China's fast growing healthcare business market. Jiwen Chen from Jacobson Holman PLLC with practice experiences in both U.S. and China, will introduce and explore practical business and legal strategies for protecting intellectual property rights related to pharmaceuticals and medical devices in China. He will address the regulatory requirements for obtaining marketing rights for pharmaceuticals and medical devices in China. As a member of the Task Force of the American Bar Association advising China Intellectual Property Office on the coming amendment to Chinese Patent Law, Mr. Chen will also offer strategic advice on how to deal with the coming changes in Chinese IP laws.
