Resident Scholar at the American Enterprise Institute for Public Policy Research

Following his talk, Mr. Ornstein will respond to questions e-mailed in from audience members in Baltimore and throughout the country.

About the Speakers:

Norman Ornstein is a resident scholar at the American Enterprise Institute for Public Policy Research. He also serves as an election analyst for CBS News and writes a weekly column called "Congress Inside Out" for Roll Call newspaper. He has written for the New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, and Foreign Affairs and regularly appears on television programs like The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer, Nightline, and Charlie Rose. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) and the Campaign Legal Center and of the Board of Trustees of the U.S. Capitol Historical Society. His books include The Permanent Campaign and Its Future, Intensive Care: How Congress Shapes Health Policy, and Debt and Taxes: How America Got into its Budget Mess and What to do About It. Daniel Wright serves as staff China expert and Managing Director for the Strategic Economic Dialogue, a twice-annual meeting between cabinet members of the American and Chinese governments that is led on the American side by Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson. Before coming to Treasury, Dr. Wright directed the Washington offices of the National Bureau for Asian Research and the Johns Hopkins University-Nanjing University Center for Chinese and American Studies. He holds an MA and PhD from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and is the author of The Promise of the Revolution: Stories of Fulfillment and Struggle in China's Hinterland.

Baltimore City Hall is located at 100 North Holliday Street, Baltimore, MD 21202. This event will be in the CitiStat Room on the 6th floor. The closest parking lot (less than 5 minute walk) is Central Parking at 510 East Lexington Street (corner of Lexington & Gay). Be sure to keep your parking ticket with you as you will need it to re-enter the garage.
