The
U.S. Trade and Development Agency Presents:
TDA
China Automatic Water Monitoring Technology Briefing
January 24, 2002
The U.S. Trade and Development Agency is sponsoring an orientation visit for a delegation representing senior technical representatives from the China State Environmental Protection Administration (SEPA) and local environmental protection bureaus (EPB). The delegation is coming to the United States to meet with U.S. firms that can supply equipment for the build-out of many online monitoring stations throughout China. The visit will take place from January 22, 2002 through February 2, 2002 and will include stops in: Washington, DC; Denver, CO; New Orleans, LA; Lincoln, NE and the AWWA/WEF 2002 Water Sources Conference in Las Vegas, NV.
The
delegation will participate in two business briefings (January 24, 2002 in
Washington, DC and January 31 in Denver, CO) to discuss opportunities for
U.S. companies and to meet one-on-one with interested U.S. company representatives.
In addition, U.S. firms may host the delegation for site visits, meals, or tours. Hosting companies are asked to assist with transportation and other logistical matters. Interested U.S. firms should contact MFM.
Market
Potential
Within the next five years, China will construct an additional 60 automatic water quality on-line monitoring stations on key sections of nationally important rivers and basins. More stations will be built at provincial and local level. Each automatic water quality on-line monitoring station represents approximately $180,000 in U.S. export potential. The instruments specifically needed by Chinese buyers include online equipment to measure: water temperature, dissolved oxygen (DO), pH, electronic conductivity, turbidity, chemical oxygen demand (COD Mn), total organic carbon (TOC), and ammonium nitrogen (NH4-N).
Business Briefings
There
will be two business briefings held during the visit which offer an opportunity
for U.S. companies to learn more about the needs of the delegation and to
present their firm's equipment and solutions to the delegation.
The
briefing agenda in Washington will includes breakfast, delegate presentations,
lunch, and an opportunity for U.S. firms to meet one-on-one with the delegates
(meetings are pre-scheduled). Attendees will also receive briefing materials.
There is a $40 fee for the Washington, DC briefing.
