This session, presented in conjunction with Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office
Washington, DC, will leave participants with a clear sense of the essential contents of CEPA (which resembles a Free Trade Agreement - FTA), its significance for Chinese foreign trade policy and practice, and its implications for US businesses seeking greater access to the People's Republic of China.

Featured Speakers:

Dr. Eden Woon, CEO, Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce

Dr. Woon played a key role in conceiving and developing CEPA.  He is a retired US Air Force Officer and served as Executive Director of the Washington State China Relations Council, Seattle.

Clement Leung, Deputy Director General of Trade and Industry, Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region

Mr. Leung was one of Hong Kong's principal negotiators of CEPA and is intimately familiar with its provisions. He is also Hong Kong’s principal trade representative on various trade issues including textiles and export control.

Jeffrey Bader, Stonebridge International LLC

Mr. Bader is well known to the US business community, thanks to his key role in China's final World Trade Organization accession negotiations and in the making of US policy toward China in several government positions.  He has represented US clients exploring opportunities presented by the mainland-Hong Kong CEPA.

The program will provide time for audience interaction with the speakers.
